The Tomatin 15 Years Moscatel Cask Edition is one of the star pieces de The Portuguese Collection. Unlike the short refinements common in the industry, this edition stands out for having spent almost half of its entire life maturing in Moscatel de Setúbal wine barrels, a Portuguese fortified wine famous for its aromatic, floral and markedly citrus profile.
Tomatin's Country Collections represent an ambitious project by the distillery to explore how its smooth, fruity Highland spirit is transformed by interacting with the oak and wine-growing traditions of three great nations European: France, Portugal and Italy. The common thread of the entire saga is respect for the raw material: all expressions are bottled at 46% ABV, without cold filtering and maintaining their natural color extracted 100% from the wood.

Winemaking
The production process began on September 8, 2006 in high-necked copper stills. The high contact with copper eliminates heavy sulfur compounds, producing a fine, light and delicate distillate. The clear distillate was initially introduced into ex-Bourbon American oak barrels. Over 8 years in the distillery's Highland warehouses, the whiskey developed its classic base of vanilla, green apple and sweet malt.
Moscatel Edition
On April 23, 2015, the whiskey was transferred to barrels that had contained Moscatel de Setúbal fortified wine. ng-version="0.0.0-PLACEHOLDER" _nghost-ng-c4009619937=""> Spending 7 full years in these barrels, the Tomatin distillate absorbed a dazzling sweet freshness, making it the most aromatic and fresh expression of the entire Portuguese collection.
Tasting notes
View:
It has an intense golden color with mushy sparkles and bright honey nuances.
Nose:
A very fresh and sweet aromatic explosion. Highlights are notes of orange blossom, beeswax, bitter orange marmalade and hints of dried figs mixed with a vegetal background of ginger.
Mouth:
Silky and very lively texture. On the palate, flavors of citrus jam, gingerbread, salted caramel, ripe pears and a touch of orange blossom honey stand out. Medium-long, clean and refined finish. It culminates with notes of candied citrus peel, sweet ginger and a hint of spicy oak.
