MacNair's Lum Reek 21 years old 70cl Case

One of the keys to its complexity is its production, since it combines malts from different regions and careful barrel management. Single malts are used exclusively (it does not contain grain whiskey) and Islay malts and Speyside malts are mixed. The recipe also includes aged whiskey from The GlenAllachie Distillery, owned by master blender Billy Walker.

All components have a minimum age of 21 years. After blending, the whiskeys spend an additional period of "marriage" or integration in selected barrels to harmonize the different profiles.

The barrels used are Oloroso sherry, which provide nuts, chocolate and spices, red wine barrels, which add ripe fruit and structure and finally, virgin oak barrels, responsible for the notes of vanilla, coconut, spices and tannins.

The last phase of the process is bottling, which is carried out without cold filtering, to preserve the texture and natural oils, and without added coloring, so the color comes only from the wood.

The result is a whiskey in which the Islay smoke does not dominate, but is integrated with the influence of the sherry, wine and oak barrels, creating an elegant, complex and very balanced profile.

It has an intense amber color with mahogany and coppery gold reflections.

Nose:

Honey, vanilla and caramel aromas are appreciated. Fine and elegant peat smoke. Hints of raisins, figs, chocolate and roasted coffee.

Mouth:

Soft, creamy and very creamy entry, with flavors of caramel, honey and nuts, spices such as cinnamon, nutmeg and pepper. Notes of cocoa, espresso coffee and toasted oak. The peat appears integrated, providing a clean smoke with a slight maritime character. With a long and persistent finish where bitter cocoa, warm spices and noble wood return.
