MacNair's Lum Reek 12 years old is a range of Scotch whiskeys created by master blender Billy Wlaker under the MacNair's brand. It is a blended malt, which means that it is made exclusively with malt whiskeys without including grain. The blend combines malts from Islay and Speyside, both peated and unpeated, seeking a balance between smoke, sweetness and complexity.
"Lum Reek" is a Scottish dialect expression meaning "chimney smoke", a reference to the smoky and peated character of whiskey.

Winemaking
The production is based on a mixing and maturation process carefully designed by master blender Billy Walker. Single malt whiskeys are exclusively selected from the Islay and Speyside regions. They are combined with peated and unpeated malts, including aged whiskey from The GlenAllachie. The different single malts are assembled to create a consistent aromatic profile.
After assembly, the mixture is returned to barrels so that the components are integrated. A combination of first fill bourbon barrels, Pedro Ximenez barrels and red wine barrels is used. Finally, it is bottled without cold filtering and artificial colors are not added.

It has a dark amber color with copper reflections.
Nose:
Aromas of honey, toffee, caramel and vanilla are appreciated. Smooth and elegant peat smoke. Hints of milk chocolate, cinnamon and nutmeg.
Mouth:
Creamy entry, with flavors of caramel, honey, dark chocolate and raisined fruits. Dry peat and elegant smoke. Long, warm finish in which sweet smoke and spices persist. Memories of toasted oak, cocoa and a light saline touch.
