Glencadam Reserva Px is a Scottish single malt from the Highlands region, made from whiskey initially matured in American oak ex-bourbon barrels and subsequently refined in Pedro Ximénez (PX) sherry wine barrels from Andalusia. The opinions of fans agree that it is a whiskey clearly oriented towards the sweet and fruity flavors of the PX. Some highlight an excellent quality-price ratio, while others consider that the PX finish dominates some of the original character of the distillery and that the finish could be longer.

Description
PREPARATION
Glencadam 15 year old single malt whiskey has been aged in ex-Bourbon barrels. It is a “non chillfiltered” whiskey, it has not been treated with very low temperatures before bottling and its color is natural, no caramel has been added.
TASTING
View: Pale gold color.
Nose:
Herbaceous notes mixed with aromas of vanilla, citrus peels and toasted nuts.
Mouth:
Sweet and creamy with layers of almonds and panna cotta followed by notes of dried apple, nutmeg and cocoa powder. Perfectly balanced finish with a flavor reminiscent of rice pudding and soft touches of cinnamon that linger on the tongue.
Winemaking
The production process of Glencadam Reserva PX is quite classic, with a finish in Pedro Ximénez barrels. Malted barley is used to produce the wort. After fermentation it is distilled in the distillery's traditional copper stills. The whiskey initially matures for several years in American oak barrels that previously contained bourbon.
The master distiller selects different ex-bourbon barrels and blends them to obtain a consistent profile before final finishing. Later it is transferred to sherry butts from Andalusia. During this period it absorbs compounds from PX wine.
Tasting notes
View:
Intense amber color with copper reflections.
Nose:
Aromas of raisins, dried figs and dates. Notes of toffee, caramel and honey. Hints of dark chocolate, cinnamon and sweet wood.
Mouth:
Soft and enveloping entry, with flavors of ripe fruit, butter caramel, toffee and molasses. Notes of fruit tart and spiced sponge cake. The influence of PX is clear, but without being cloying. Medium-long finish in which raisined fruits, toasted caramel and sweet spices persist. Light hint of espresso coffee and bitter cocoa at the end.
