PRODUCTION
Gin Zarí is a craft gin with a tequila base that provides agave distillate and is made through 4 distillations with a blend of grain alcohols, juniper, citrus, and spices. Zarí was born in the mind of Patricia Gijón, a pharmacist by profession and a creator by vocation, in a small 3-liter copper still in her kitchen. After the great acceptance the final product had in Madrid, it was decided to distill for sale in different national and international venues.
The name Gin Zarí recalls Granada, a Nasrid reference, details that can be seen on the bottle label, since the agave flower recalls the coffered ceilings of the Alhambra. As references to the profession of its creator, the juniper garland appears, recalling the snake of the pharmaceutical symbol; in addition, the bottle is inspired by apothecary compound-formula bottles.
TASTING
Appearance: Colorless, clear, and transparent.
Nose: Aromatic, with juniper and citrus notes.
Palate: The first note of juniper and agave delivers a saline hit on the side of the mouth, with citrus enveloping the whole palate and a spicy aftertaste from ginger at the back of the throat, with a medium mouthfeel. It invites a second sip where cardamom nuances and aniseed touches of coriander appear, with a fresh and citrus finish.
