Enate Reserva 2014 is a Reserve red wine with D.O. Somontano, made by combining ancient techniques with the most avant-garde. In addition to being a balanced wine, it has great aging potential in the bottle and is perfect to accompany tasty dishes such as grilled robellones with mashed parsley and garlic, or beans with fine clams and cuttlefish, as well as red meats, stews or cured cheeses. The label design is an original work for Enate by artist José Manuel Broto. This wine develops its bouquet better if it is opened half an hour before serving and may present a sediment of bitartrates. This phenomenon is natural and constitutes the guarantee that the wine has not been subjected to any physical or chemical treatment. By gently decanting the bottle, the sediment will remain at the bottom and will not affect the tasting of the wine.

PREPARATION

Grapes: Cabernet Sauvignon.

To make Enate Reserva 2014 red wine the grapes, harvested manually, are destemmed and lightly crushed. The must ferments at 28ºC in stainless steel tanks. After malolactic fermentation, the wine remains in French oak barrels for a year, subsequently refining in tank until bottling in May 2018. In 2014, a spring with less rain than normal gave way to a rainy summer. The month of August was cooler than usual and allowed for slow and progressive ripening of the grapes. The harvest began on August 21, usual dates for Somontano, thanks to a hot and dry second half of July. Starting in September, the rains, not very abundant but repeated over several days, delayed the rate of ripening of the red grapes and forced some stops in the harvesting, especially in mid-September. Despite the rainfall, the grapes were harvested with impeccable health quality.

TASTING

View: Very covered garnet color.

 

Nose: It displays a wide and complex aromatic range: compote and wild aromas (blackberry, currant), balsamic (mint) and a subtle spicy background (vanilla, pepper, bay leaf).

 

Mouth: With a structured palate, the mouth is covered by high-quality tannins. Long finish, reminiscent of toast and blonde tobacco.

 

Recommended temperature: 16-18ºC.
