Winemaking
The Italian collection is the most recent of the three, designed to capture the Mediterranean essence and the wine history of Italy.
The three whiskeys were distilled on December 6, 2010 and aged for 10 years in traditional Scotch whiskey casks (mainly ex-bourbon and some ex-sherry). Subsequently, each spent two additional years in a different type of Italian wine barrel, obtaining completely different aromatic profiles. Finally, they were bottled in 2023, at 12 years of age, 46% vol. , without cold filtering and with its natural color, preserving all its aromatic richness.
Marsala Edition
On February 10, 2021, the whiskey was transferred to selected Sicilian Marsala fortified wine casks. For an additional 24 months, the Marsala wine-infused wood provided the Mediterranean nuances of panettone, candied citrus, lemon truffle and cocoa.
Tasting notes
View :
Deep gold with bright amber and copper flashes. When you rotate the glass, it leaves dense, slow-falling tears, a reflection of its 46% ABV and the absence of cold filtration.
Nose:
A warm, sweet and festive entry. Notes of artisanal panettone, rum raisins and candied fruit immediately stand out. When opened in the glass, fresh citrus nuances of candied lime peel, cooked green apple, a touch of honeycomb and a subtle background of sweet malt and oak emerge.
Mouth:
Silky and unctuous entry. In the center of the mouth, a balanced mix of creamy sweetness and citric acidity unfolds: white chocolate, lemon truffle, hazelnut cream (praline) and hints of ripe dried fruits stand out. The Marsala barrel gives it a sweet Mediterranean complexity without overlapping the fruity character of Tomatin. Medium-long length, clean and vibrant. It leaves a fresh memory of blood orange, soft wood spices (cinnamon, nutmeg) and a light toasted and vinous aftertaste.
