 PRODUCTION

The core of Sylvius gin is a London Dry Gin. This means it contains no sugar, is distilled once, and only natural flavorings are allowed. Only fresh and natural ingredients are used in its production, distilled from neutral wheat alcohol in which 10 natural botanicals are macerated for four days before distillation: juniper, angelica root, coriander seeds, lavender, lemons, orange peels, cinnamon, star anise, licorice root, and caraway seeds. The citrus fruits are cut at the time, the spices are ground, and the oranges are peeled in the same distillery to ensure maximum freshness.

The history of Onder de Boompjes distillery begins in 1658, when the Steffelaer family began to sell and produce various gins. Over the years, the distillery was not passed down from parents to children, but instead had a rather entrepreneurial history. In total, 4 families were owners. The distillery is located by the Schie River in Schiedam, next to Royal Dutch Distillers and Nolet Distillery.

 TASTING

Appearance: Clean and transparent appearance.

 

Nose: Delicate and rich with fresh aromas of lemon, juniper, and angelica.

 

Palate: Subtle flavors with hints of anise and cinnamon on a solid base of well-balanced gin.
