PETRUS 2016
Gran Reserva Red Wine from Pomerol (France) made by the Société Civile du Château Petrus winery with Merlot grapes. It is a unique wine, the most concentrated and richest from Pomerol. However, despite its power, the secret of Petrus's greatness lies in its remarkable balance and penetrating aroma, which differentiate it not only from the rest of Pomerols but also from other wines. This unique personality is due to the nature of the soil of its vineyards.

Winemaking
Grapes: 100% Merlot
Both on the surface and in the subsoil clay predominates, unlike all its neighbors where sand abounds. The Merlot grape finds its ideal surface here. The vines are very old, more than 50 years old.
Manual harvest. Fermentation in concrete tanks with controlled temperature and gentle wooding. Malolactic fermentation in tank. Ages in new 100% French oak barrels for between 24 and 30 months. 30,000 bottles are produced per year.
Tasting notes
View:
It has an opaque dark purple color.
Nose:
Explosive aroma of black plum, blueberry compote, violet, dark chocolate, licorice and cinnamon, with touches of iron ore and pencil lead from its unique blue clay terroir.
Mouth:
Full-bodied, with dense, fine tannins, and perfect balance. The ending lingers for more than 60 seconds. Silky yet structured: couture at its finest.
Food pairing
Pairs perfectly with truffled pheasant, hare stew and roast lamb shoulder with basil.
Aging potential: 50 years or more. It is recommended decant it, and the serving temperature should be between 14ºC and 18ºC in a Riedel Bordeaux-type glass for better tasting.
