Description
PREPARATION
Frígola is a fine liquor obtained by extracting aromas in a copper alembic from various plants from the island of Ibiza, mainly Thyme. In Ibiza and Formentera, it is very common to see immense fields of frigola in flower in the months of June and July, with their white or purple flowers, depending on the variety. An ancient tradition says that the harvesting of this plant should be done very early in the morning on Saint John's Day. It is the first drink made by the Marí Mayans Family, before the founding of the first distillery in Formentera in 1880. Its production process is artisanal, the aromatic plants are treated to extract their aroma by distillation, maceration and boiling methods. Natural syrup from cane sugar, ethyl alcohol of agricultural origin and demineralized water necessary to achieve the desired characteristics are added to distillates, macerations and infusions.
