Description
PREPARATION
Frangelico is produced in the Piedmont region of northern Italy, and its origins date back more than 300 years to the presence of the first Christian monks who lived in the hills of the area. It is made from very special hazelnuts, which are larger, fatter and more uniform, called Tonda Gentile, they are a specialty of the Piemonte region. Italian hazelnuts are harvested, peeled, roasted and crushed, then infused in a solution of alcohol and water. The hazelnut infusion is distilled to produce a natural hazelnut distillate. Hazelnut distillate is mixed with cocoa bean extract and distillates, vanilla berries, roasted coffee and other flavoring preparations to create Frangelico concentrate. The concentrate is mixed with pure alcohol, sugar and water to achieve the required bottling strength. It is then placed in vats for 6-8 weeks to allow the mixture to marry and soften.
