Description

 PRODUCTION

Pineau des Charentes is a traditional aperitif from the Charente region that contains Cognac. The Pineau des Charentes Vieux Blanc cognac liqueur from the House of François Voyer is made with a blend of white grape musts and cognac. The grape juice is mixed with the spirit right after harvest, when it is most flavorful and vibrant. And to achieve the aging of this Pineau des Charentes Vieux Blanc, it is matured in oak barrels for 5 years, whereas Pineau is usually aged for 18 months.

Pineau des Charentes is a sweet and reasonably strong cognac liqueur from the Charentais (Cognac) region in western France. By law, the must must be freshly harvested and the cognac must have been kept in a barrel before use. Any fermentation will have been stopped by the high alcohol level and, since the must remains essentially unfermented, it retains all its grape flavors and, ideally, the varietal characteristics of the grapes used, which develop over time.
