Enate Merlot-Merlot 2017 75cl.

Enate Merlot-Merlot 2017 75cl.

Enate Merlot-Merlot 2017 is a red wine with D.O. Somontanothat exudes exuberance and goes directly to the senses. The forcefulness of the name is also in line with the power it shows in its passage through the mouth. Without a doubt, the wine that made Bodegas Enate come of age as red wine producers. It is perfect to enhance game dishes, stews, smoked and elaborate dishes such as an Angus burger with caramelized onion and melted Stilton cheese, or some Iberian pork meatballs and Spanish sauce. The label design is an original work for Enate by artist Frederic Amat. This wine may present a sediment of bitartrates. This phenomenon is natural and constitutes the guarantee that the wine has not been subjected to any physical or chemical treatment. By gently decanting the bottle, the sediment will remain at the bottom and will not affect the tasting of the wine.

Description

PREPARATION

Grapes: Merlot.

For the production of Enate Merlot-Merlot 2017 red wine fermentation took place at 28ºC and maceration with the skins lasted for a month. Malolactic fermentation took place in new French oak barrels. And it was subsequently aged for 13 months with subsequent stabilization in tank until bottling in May 2018. 2016 began with higher temperatures than usual, being a rainy and not very cold winter. After a fairly rainy spring and with some especially cold mornings at the end of April, summer arrived with moderate temperatures and dry. The harvest started slowly on the night of August 23. At the beginning of September, a heat wave accelerated the ripening of the white and Merlot varieties. In the middle of the month the temperatures dropped and the harvest ended in a calm and slow manner.

TASTING

View: Maroon color.

Nose: Wide and complex aromatic range in which the memories of red fruits, balsamic and spicy notes (eucalyptus, clove) are harmoniously combined together with the characteristic aromas of dried apricots and the nuances of cocoa and roasting provided by the barrel.

Mouth: Its palate is broad, fleshy and covered by sweet tannins of impeccable quality. The finish is very persistent and gives us hints of Indian ink and leather.

Recommended temperature: 16-18ºC.
