Bercloux Single Malt 70cl. Case

Bercloux Single Malt is a craft whiskey of French origin made in the Charente-Maritime region (New Aquitaine), produced at the Bercloux distillery and supported by the group Les Bienheureux.

The project originally began in 2002 by Philippe Laclie (son of a cognac distiller), who initially opened a craft brewery (Brasserie de Bercloux) taking advantage of the family farm. Taking advantage of its brewing experience and its family heritage in the world of spirits, the winery took the official leap towards the creation of spirits and artisanal whiskey in 208">2014, marketing its first expressions of whiskey 100% French in the following years. Currently part of the beverage group Les Bienheureux

Winemaking

Distilled from local barley. It is initially aged for three years in French oak barrels. One of its most important aspects distinctive is its post-assembly refinement during the last months of maturation in barrels that previously contained Pineau des Charentes, a traditional fortified wine from the region that gives it a deep-rooted personality to the land.

One of the great hallmarks of Bercloux is its distillation method. The distillery uses an emblematic and exclusive Stupfler® type column still. This high-tech system allows you to obtain extremely pure and elegant spirits in a single pass. Unlike other column stills or double redistillation stills (repasse), the Stupfler system avoids harshness or excessive alcoholic burning, achieving distillates of exceptional smoothness and aromatic richness that respect the raw material as much as possible. They combine this unique system with traditional Charentais naked flame stills for certain ranges of distillates.

Tasting notes

View:

Intense and brilliant gold, reflecting its passage through French oak barrels and its finish in fortified wine barrels.

Nose:

Complete and enveloping, highlighting aromas of sweet spices, notes of dried fruits (such as macadamia nut) and subtle hints of raisined grapes.

Mouth:

Remarkable softness and creamy texture. Direct, balanced and fruity profile. Memories of malt cereals, orchard fruits, toffee predominate (toffee), well-integrated oak and a vibrant touch of white pepper. Long and very elegant. Subtly toasted and warm, leaving a memory persistent and spicy on the palate.

Food pairing

It is recommended to enjoy it alone and at room temperature, or slightly cooled in a tulip-type glass to concentrate and appreciate its aromatic complexity.
