The The Antiquary 30 Years Sherry Cask Finish (or Sherry Cask Edition) represents the absolute pinnacle in the range of blended scotch whiskeys of the brand. Marketed under the seal of the Tomatin Distillery Co. Ltd., this bottle is an authentic collector's gem that unites extremely aged whiskeys with the sumptuousness of Sherry casks (Sherry).
Due to the scarcity of whiskeys with 30 years of actual aging, editions of The Antiquary 30 Years are released in numerically very limited batches. It is considered by critics a master class in how the Sherry cask can enhance and round out a hyper-aged blend without dulling the finesse of the distillate.

Winemaking
Tomatin's Master Blender selects a very small number of malt and grain casks that have been quietly maturing for minimum 30 years. The malts from the Tomatin distillery itself provide the fruity and elegant structure that supports the blend.
At this age, grain whiskey loses its alcoholic character and becomes extremely smooth, while the malts gain an extraordinary complexity of wood, leather and nuts.
The final assembly undergoes a final maturation in Sherry barrels. The porosity and richness of the Andalusian fortified wine round out the whiskey, providing an additional layer of deep sweetness, raisins and baking spices.
Tasting notes
View:
Intense mahogany and dark mahogany color with copper and old gold reflections. Its texture is extremely dense, leaving thick tears that run very slowly down the glass.
Nose:
An exuberant, complex and deeply aged nose. Aromas of bitter orange jam, raisins, dried figs, plums in syrup, dates and a refined touch of cedar wood, blonde tobacco and old leather emerge.
Mouth:
On the palate it is opulent, silky and full-bodied. Notes of high percentage dark chocolate, caramelized toffee, toasted nuts (hazelnuts and Brazil nuts), spicy Christmas cake (Christmas cake) and a soft background stand out. of polished oak that never becomes bitter. Immensely long, warm and velvety. The aftertaste lasts for minutes with hints of raisined fruit, sweet spices (cinnamon, nutmeg) and a fine aftertaste of Oloroso Sherry.
