Alfred Gratien Cuvée 565 Brut 75cl.

Alfred Gratien Cuvée 565 Brut 75cl.

Cellar master Nicolas Jaeger created Alfred Gratien Cuvée 565 Brut according to the Solera method, through an enriched blend from year to year over 5 vintages: 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011, the result is a very harmonious Champagne. Its name is due to the 5 vintages used to make it, its 6 years of aging and the effect it produces when drinking it, awakening the 5 senses: 565. It is a Champagne that wonderfully accompanies a 24-month matured Parmesan and complements John Dory fish, free-range veal or Bresse chicken and mushrooms. Alfred Gratien Champagnes are recognized as fine wines, served in France and around the world, appearing on the wine lists of Michelin-starred restaurants and exclusive wine merchants.

Description

PREPARATION

Grapes: Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.

The production of Alfred Gratien Cuvée 565 Brut begins with a meticulous selection of the grapes, vinification is carried out in a traditional way and aging is carried out in small 228-liter oak barrels in order to deliberately restrict volumes. Alfred Gratien does not carry out malolactic fermentation to respect the characteristics of the grape and the terroir. Bottled in 2012, Cuvée 565 has aged on lees for six years to allow the aromas of the five vintages it contains to develop harmoniously, awakening the five senses.

TASTING

View: Light yellow color with greenish reflections that reflects its freshness. Small bubbles beautifully erupt on its surface. Elegant and refined visual impact.

Nose: The initial nose is immediately attractive, opening to an expanse of aromas that reaffirm its maturity: cooked fruit, hazelnut, acacia honey, praline, toast and candied citrus. This wonderfully complex autumnal nose gradually gives way to a selection of delicious tertiary aromas.

Mouth: The attack on the palate is creamy. Its dense and rich vinous character comes to the fore. This consistency is supported by luscious tannins and a bright, vigorous nature. Thanks to the effusive aspects of its effervescence, its texture is particularly dense, almost unctuous. This physical sensation is reminiscent of umami. The finish is powerful and very persistent, vigorous and salty but clean and clear in the mouth. An impression of purity that captures the imagination and inspires the next bite.

Recommended temperature: 8ºC.
