The packaging and visual identity of this collection was designed in collaboration with renowned artist and graphic designer David Carson. Winemaking
The production of The Macallan 18 Years Color Collection stands out for the meticulous combination of the Scottish distilling tradition in Speyside and the artisanal winemaking art of Jerez de la Frontera, Spain.
The process begins at The Macallan distillery with the selection of pure ingredients and fermentation. Unusually small copper stills are used, a hallmark of the distillery. These stills allow the alcohol vapor to come into maximum contact with the copper, retaining the heaviest and oiliest compounds to achieve a dense, complex spirit with deeply fruity notes.
American oak barrels are used, complemented by a subtle touch of European oak. These barrels travel to Jerez de la Frontera (Spain), where they are filled and left to rest with authentic sherry wine for several months. This impregnation or seasoning process is essential, since the wood absorbs the nuances of the wine and determines the aromatic profile, the flavor structure and the depth of the final color. Once ready, the barrels are transported to The Macallan estate in Speyside, Scotland, where they are filled with the spirit. During almost two decades of uninterrupted rest, the liquid slowly interacts with the wood and the remains of sherry. This interaction generates its light reddish brown tone 100% naturally (light auburn), without resorting to artificial coloring.
The whiskey is assembled and adjusted to an alcohol content of 43% ABV, preserving the integrity of its organoleptic profile before being packaged in its special edition artistic presentation Travel Retail.

Light reddish brown (light auburn / golden amber with copper highlights), a 100% natural color derived from the long interaction between the spirit and the wood of the barrels seasoned with sherry.
Nose:
Fresh lemon citrus and sweet vanilla from the American oak. Layers of citrus orange, dried fruits and soft spices provided by the European oak. Roasted almonds, toffee, a base of sherry sweetness, honeycomb (honeycomb) and a warm touch of clementine.
Mouth:
Silky, medium-bodied and with a very well-defined sweet oak spine. Notes of vanilla sponge cake, milk chocolate with hints of orange, citrus peel, almonds, toffee and fine spices that complement the richness of the wood stand out. Of medium length and persistent. A harmonious and warm balance where notes of sweet oak and fresh orange peel persist.
