Monopole Clásico Gran Reserva 2014 75cl.

Monopole Clásico Gran Reserva 2014 is an excellent white wine made in the old way, which takes us back to another era, through a tasty, fresh, balanced and delicious wine. From the beginning of the century until the 70s, Monopole was a reference in the homes and hospitality industry of Spain, and one of CVNE's main wines. Its style has always been characterized by being a serious, dry wine with a slight salty, austere touch, but with good acidity. In 2014, the previous style was rescued, which had achieved recognition for this great white. Of that first Monopole Clásico made in 2014, a small part was allocated to aging in barrels for 5 years, which has given rise to the maximum expression of this wine: Monopole Clásico Gran Reserva. Description

PREPARATION

Grapes: Viura.

The Monopole Clásico Gran Reserva 2014 white wine is made from grapes that come from its own vineyard located in the municipality of Villalba, a high-altitude town sheltered by the Obarenes Mountains. The estate is called La Plana and despite its name it is on a slope with an eastern exposure. It is a dryland vineyard with a predominance of sandy soil that filters water well in this hillside area, keeping the plant under slight water stress, obtaining loose clusters of small and tasty grains. Once the grapes are ripe, they are picked taking advantage of the low temperatures early in the morning to avoid possible oxidation. The boxes are kept in a refrigerator for 24 hours to preserve aromas and prevent oxidation. The yield of this vineyard is very small, hence the small amount of this wine made, which was gently pressed in a small hydraulic press and fermented in used 300L barrels and 1 500L butt. It was aged for five years, in four used Rioja barrels and an even more used butt.
