Description

Winemaking

Grapes: Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.

2013 was characterized by a particularly late vegetative cycle. The winter, which seemed endless, gave way to a very timid spring. It was necessary to wait until the first days of July to record complete flowering in the vineyard. It's been a long time since we've seen that in Champagne! Fortunately, the summer was intense and radiant, with sun exposure that broke records and low rainfall, which favored the maturation of the Pinots noirs and Chardonnays. The October harvest was developed with an autumnal freshness, giving birth to elegant wines with marked freshness. To make his rosé Champagnes, Louis Roederer developed over the years a method totally unique in Champagne. Known in the House as “the infusion”, it allows us to extract the juicy and ripe character of the Pinot Noir, while preserving immense freshness. Thus, a part of the juice of the Chardonnay grapes is added to a maceration of Pinot Noirs, to ferment them together, achieve a perfect integration and obtain the Champagne Louis Roederer Rosé Vintage 2013.

Tasting notes

View: Delicate pink color, luminous and brilliant, with fine, constant and calm effervescence. It is perfectly distributed throughout the entire glass.

Nose: Complex bouquet dominated by an almost minty freshness and tangy fruits, wild strawberry and raspberry. Then spicy and smoky accents appear, typical of Cumières Pinots noirs; dried fruits, toasted almonds and cocoa bean. There are also saline notes reminiscent of seawater spray.

Mouth: Soft and unctuous attack on the palate, but also very fresh and penetrating. This immediate, perfectly integrated combination of matter and freshness sets the tone: great freshness, balance, persistence and lightness. The material is progressively refined, enveloping the palate with a satin texture that is supported by a saline perception on the tongue and light tannic notes that recall the pulp and skin of Pinot Noir grapes. The ending is fresh, persistent, infinite.
