The brothers Miguel and Ángel Gil Vera produce in their winery in the small D.O. Almansa is the original red wine Laya 2022, the fruit of a blend of Garnacha Tintorera and Monastrell obtained from vineyards located between 700 and 1000 m of altitude, on sandy soils with a high concentration of limestone at its base. The history of Viñas Familia Gil began more than a century ago, with the founding of Bodegas Juan Gil in 1916 by Juan Gil Giménez, great-grandfather of the current managers of the winery, which currently acts as the spearhead and ambassador of the wines of southeastern Spain. A few years ago, the group started a new stage of expansion through different production areas of the Spanish wine scene with wineries including Celler Can blau (D.O. Montsant), Bodegas Shaya (D.O. Rueda), Lagar da Condesa (D.O. Rías Baixas), Bodegas Ateca (D.O. Calatayud) and Bodegas Atalaya (D.O. Almansa). In the latter they make wines that are benchmarks among those made with Garnacha Tintorera, such as Laya 2022. Ideal with meaty and creamy rice, with stewed legumes, with mushrooms, with traditional stews and with roasts.

Description
PREPARATION
Grapes: 70% Garnacha Tintorera, 30% Monastrell.
To prepare Laya 2022, the Bodegas Atalaya technical team proceeded to macerate and ferment the varieties separately in stainless steel tanks with temperature control. After malolactic fermentation and a brief passage, 4 months, in French oak barrels, the result is a wine with a striking personality that stands out for its combination of color intensity, aromatic complexity and good structure.
TASTING
View:
Intense cherry red color.
Nose:
Elegant, fresh and complex. The intense aromas of ripe red and black fruit are appreciated along with the floral and herbaceous notes. At the end, light toasted notes appear.
Mouth:
Pleasant, fresh, balanced and with sweet tannins. It gives an unctuous sensation and a long, enveloping finish. Recommended temperature: between 12 ºC and 14 ºC.
