Highland Park 10 Years Ambassador's Choice is a unique whiskey, since a slightly different approach to that used by Highland Park Distillery was adopted for its production. First released in Sweden in 2013, it was bottled at its binding strength of 46% ABV. The award-winning Highland Park Whiskey has been made at the distillery of the same name in Kirkwall, Orkney, since 1978. Age, experience and tradition may define its whiskies, but it is Orkney that sets it apart, a place where magic happens and the result is the wild harmony of flavors found in its whiskies. Description
PREPARATION
During the production of Highland Park 10 Year Old Ambassador's Choice Whisky the brand's senior ambassador, Martin Markvardsen, decided to combine 10-year-old sherry-seasoned American oak barrels with 10-year-old European oak barrels, and lightly filter the whiskey before bottling. This intensified the classic smoky sweetness that is Highland Park's trademark.
Highland Park Whiskey is made using traditional methods at one of the few distilleries that still carefully rotates its malt by hand, every 8 hours, seven days a week, to maintain a constant airflow and the exact humidity (5%) to fully absorb the intense aromatic smoke produced by the Hobbister Moor peat. The whiskey is distilled in 4 traditional stills with windows, which allows them to observe the process and maintain complete control over it. The maturation process varies depending on the whiskey, but there is no doubt that Highland Park achieves a perfect and harmonized combination of the different barrels, achieving a complex but finely balanced whiskey.
TASTING

Golden amber color.
Nose:
Aroma of ripe yellow plums and sun-ripened peaches, white pepper, licorice root, heather honey and aromatic peat smoke.
Mouth:
Full-bodied whiskey, beautifully balanced with intense notes of vanilla and sherry layered with ripe fruits and a hint of salty ocean water.
