Finca El Maldito 2023 75cl.
Only when the terroir and the vintage allow, and after careful selection of specific plots, does the Finca El Maldito red wine emerge. Currently, only one vintage exists, 2012, and it was released with 230 bottles when the Martínez Palmero family determined the optimal moment for consumption. This wine is a simple tribute to the man who cared for and cultivated the plots where the winery and its vineyards now stand. A tough man, like Rafael “El Maldito,” who lived for 104 years in Ahillas.

Description
Winemaking
Grapes: Bobal, Tempranillo, Prieto Picudo and Mencía.
The grapes used to make Finca El Maldito red wine were all harvested, predominantly Bobal, but also including a small percentage of Tempranillo, Prieto Picudo, and Mencía. Fermentation was controlled in tanks at 26ºC for three weeks, with only manual punch-downs. The wine is aged in new French Allier oak barrels with a medium-plus toast. It spends 14 months in barrel, and the bottle aging period is still to be determined. The Martínez Palmero family has been producing their wines by hand since 2002. They started in a garage with 100 bottles, and today they produce 22,000 bottles of their five wines in the Ahillas Valley, whose lands have been cultivated since the time of the ancient Muslim occupation of the Iberian Peninsula.
Tasting notes
View:
Violet hues alongside a powerful, opaque color, revealing the wine's structure. Very slow, colored tears.
Nose:
Intoxicating, with nuances reminiscent of ripe cherries and blackberries, it is balsamic and mineral. We find hints of leather and toasted notes.
Mouth:
A very pleasant entry, with a surprisingly nice tannic structure for a wine from our latitude. The finish is very long, revealing flavors of ripe strawberries, blackberry, and licorice.
