Description
PREPARATION
Grapes: Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
Duval-Leroy Femme de Champagne Vintage 1996 is made from a blend of two grape varieties from the Champagne region. 7% of this blend is vinified in oak barrels to give it structure and silkiness. Chef de cave Sandrine Logette-Jardin and Carol Duval-Leroy, due to the high aging potential, decided to leave the Cuvée Femme in the cellar, with the bottles upside down at the top, several years before disgorging it. This approach has maintained the purity of the wine and reinforced the exceptional balance between great freshness and complexity associated with long aging. An exceptional vintage of Femme de Champagne is always linked to an extraordinary level of ripeness of the grapes and represents the best Grand Cru Terroir, from mid-slope plot selections from old vineyards.
TASTING
View: Straw yellow, white-golden color.
Nose: Concentrated, clear and intense bouquet of white and dried fruits along with lemon and some tropical flavors.
Mouth: The palate is fresh and silky in texture with notable delicacy and lightness, and the finish reveals a very pleasant maturity and complexity. The finish is quite juicy and aromatic, showing succulent flavors of pineapple and nectarine, as well as revitalizing aromas of lemon. Incredibly fresh and vital for a 20-year-old Champagne.
Recommended temperature: 8-10ºC.
