Contino Gran Reserva 2015 75cl.
Contino Gran Reserva 2015 is the Rioja with the most claims to elegance from the winery. It seeks the essence of the classic Rioja brand, although always working to renew its style. It is ideal to accompany stewed turkey, venison, lamb, roasts, red meat, poultry, stews and chocolate desserts. Contino was born in 1973 as the first “chateau” in Rioja. Their wines are obtained only from the vineyard planted on their 62 hectares. The Contino vineyard is located in a privileged environment, integrated around an old manor house, in a bend of the Ebro in Laserna, a district of the municipality of Laguardia, Rioja Alavesa. Description
PREPARATION
Grapes: 70% Tempranillo, 15% Graciano, 10% Mazuelo and 5% Garnacha.
The grape for the production of Contino Gran Reserva 2015 is selected from the best soils of the Finca San Rafael destined for the production of Contino Reserva, it is about going one step further in acidity, concentration and maturity. The Tempranillo variety comes from stony soil near the Ebro River, which allows slower maturation due to its own humidity. The harvest was carried out manually, selecting the grapes in the field and in the winery, with a selection table. After destemming, it fermented in concrete tanks at 26-28ºC. When finished, a post-fermentation maceration was carried out for 15-20 days. Malolactic fermentation took place in these same tanks. Subsequently, it was transferred to used barrels of 30% American oak and 70% French oak, where the wine remained for 36 months. This aging was completed with a minimum of 2 years of rest in the bottle.
