Description

PREPARATION

Grapes: A variety of traditional Douro grape varieties, particularly Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca and Tinta Roriz.

To make Burmester Tawny Porto 20 Years the grapes are picked by hand at their optimal point, the grapes are destemmed, crushed and vinified according to a process that is based on careful maceration with extraction of color, tannins and aromas from the skins, complemented by permanent pumping over during fermentation. This is done in mills, at a controlled temperature between 28-30°C, until the desired Baumé degree is reached. At this stage, wine spirit is added, resulting in a fortified wine. It ages in wood for variable periods of time, in which the age mentioned on the label corresponds to the approximate average of the ages of the different wines that participate in the batch, expressing the character of the wine with respect to the characteristics that barrel aging gives it.
