Bruichladdich Octomore Edition 13.1 70cl. - Case
Octomore 13.1 is youthful and dynamic whiskey. All Octomore .1 editions are distilled from 100% Scottish barley. They are primarily aged only in ex-American oak, in varying percentages of ex-bourbon or ex-Tennessee whiskey barrels. It has a raw character from the clean spirit of Octomore, balanced with the influence of ex-American whiskey. This single malt is a testament to the confidence that Bruichladdich's head distiller, Adam Hannett, has in the quality of his ingredients. This single malt perfectly embodies the bravery of Octomore as a concept. A drop of water will intensify the smoke and highlight the minerality of the whiskey. Presentation: Bottle with case.

PREPARATION
Bruichladdich Octomore 13.1 is distilled from the 2015 harvest of 100% Scottish continental barley, this single malt whiskey was aged in the highest quality American oak casks. After five years aged in first-fill ex-American oak casks, Bruichladdich's head master distiller has offered a unique twist on this 13.1, having gathered and recasked the spirit in 2021 in even fresher first-fill ex-American oak casks.
TASTING
View:
Golden color.
Nose:
Initial impressions are of sweet nutty smoke, loaded with barley sugar and ripe fruit. Apricot and ripe pear along with notes of vanilla and honey. American oak provides coconut, almonds and charred oak. The peat smoke is delicate but powerful and, along with the charred oak, highlights the leather and earthy notes.
Mouth:
A viscous texture on the palate, the sensation is of densely smoky grain that presents itself as smoky granola with honeyed fruit. A second sip provides the opportunity to tease out the complexity on the palate, with smoky apricot jam, barley flour, peat embers and burnt heather balanced by gooseberry citrus and sweet Turkish delight. Oak shavings, sugared almonds and chocolate-lime with spiced anise arrive towards the end. A drop of water intensifies the smoke and highlights the minerality of the whiskey.
