Description
PREPARATION
The Suau 15 Years Brandy is made from the Airén grape variety (a fruity grape with a high alcohol content and low acidity), which is gently pressed and fermented, which reinforces its aroma and provides a 78% alcohol liquor. To later age it following a Solera system in 225 and 300 liter American oak barrels slowly and statically where it reaches 39 degrees. The microclimate of the underground cellars of Mallorca in which this brandy ages enhances its composition.
Bodegas Suau was born at the end of the 19th century, when Juan Suau, who had a rum distillation business in Cuba, married the daughter of a Mallorcan landowner and moved his wineries to the Spanish island. But seeing that there was no sugar cane here and the islanders' lack of habit of consuming rum, he decided to use the grape cultivation for distillation and thus create the mythical Brandy Suau that we enjoy today.
TASTING
View: Dark amber color, with coppery and bright highlights.
Nose: Extremely complex. Excellent aromatic integrity between oak wood and its distilled components.
Mouth: Balanced and complete, with notes of caramel combined with toasted oak, black pepper and vanilla. Fruity, slightly sweet and with a long finish on the palate, without itching or bitterness.
