Winemaking
The Tomatin Master Blender carefully selects single malt (with Tomatin malt as the central pillar) and grain whiskeys that have been patiently matured for at least 21 years in traditional oak casks.
The different components are mixed to achieve a perfectly harmonious profile, where the depth of the aged malt is balanced with the silkiness of the mature grain
The matured blend is transferred to port wine barrels for a refining stage. During this period, the whiskey extracts the notes of candied red fruit, figs, dried fruits and the warm color left in the wood impregnated with fortified wine.
It is bottled in The Antiquary's famous diamond/pyramid-shaped bottle and housed in its exclusive case, making it an ideal whiskey for gifting or collecting.
Tasting notes
View:
Very deep coppery amber color, with vivid reddish and mahogany reflections.
Nose:
A rich, complex and mature nose. Notes of blackberry jam, prunes, dried figs, candied orange peel and a marked memory of toffee, dark chocolate and cinnamon stand out.
Mouth:
Silky, velvety and enveloping texture. It enters with a rich sweetness of stewed berries, spiced fruit cake, cocoa cream, walnuts and touches of polished oak provided by its 21 years of aging. Long, warm and extremely refined finish. Leaves an elegant memory of dried fruits, soft spices from the wood and a very pleasant bittersweet presence from the Port barrel
