Antiquary 15 years Claret Cask 70cl. Case
The The Antiquary 15 Years Claret Cask Finish is an extremely interesting and sought-after limited edition. Its connection with the Tomatin distillery is no coincidence: the Blended Scotch Whiskey The Antiquary brand belongs to the portfolio of Tomatin Distillery Co. Ltd.
This expression stands out for fusing the art of blending very old malts and grains with a final maturation in Bordeaux red wine barrels, Claret.
"Claret" is the historical term by which the British traditionally refer to thered wines from the Bordeaux region of France. They are wines known for their elegant structure, presence of fine tannins and notes of dark red fruits, currants and wood spices.

Winemaking
Premium single malt whiskeys (where Tomatin malt acts as the backbone) and high-quality grain whiskeys are selected, all aged for a minimum of 15 years. During blending, the perfect proportion between the fruity/honey character of the malt and the softness of the grain is achieved. The mature blend is transferred to French oak barrels that previously housed Bordeaux red wine. For months, the whiskey extracts the aromatic compounds that were impregnated in the wood, acquiring its reddish tone and its dry and fruity profile.
Tasting notes
View:
Deep copper/mahogany tone with bright ruby reflections that reveal the influence of red wine.
Nose:
An elegant and complex entry. Marked aromas of blackcurrant, ripe red plums and raspberries, accompanied by notes of honey, vanilla, toffee and a subtle background of toasted wood and fine leather.
Mouth:
On the palate it is fluid and silky. It combines the initial sweetness of toffee and malt with intense flavors of berries, dark chocolate, cherries in syrup and a nuance of mild spices (cinnamon, sweet pepper). Medium-long persistence, dry and refined. It culminates with the soft tannins of Bordeaux wine, leaving a bittersweet aftertaste of orange peel, oak and red fruits.
