Description

Winemaking

Grapes: Chardonnay and Pinot Noir Premiers and Grand Cru.

The Alfred Gratien House adheres to its principles throughout the Champagne-making process: premium grape selection, traditional winemaking methods, strict quantity limits and respect for the land. Nicolas Jaeger spent 17 years training with his father, Jean-Pierre Jaeger. Alfred Gratien Cuvée Passation 2008 embodies the experience and legacy of the house, it is a symbol of this family tradition, in which Nicolas draws on his father's training and the exceptional grapes at his disposal. In addition to the virtues of the harvesting technique, the grapes used for Cuvée Passation are selected from the best Grands Crus varieties of Le Mesnil Chardonnay and Bouzy Pinot Noir, resulting in an extraordinarily harmonious blend. As with all vintages from the Alfred Gratien house, the Cuvée Passation goes through an initial fermentation process in 228-liter oak vats. The second stage of fermentation takes place in the cellars, where the lees from each bottle are stirred by hand.

Tasting notes

View: Pale yellow color. An attractive mousse crowns the surface.

Nose: The initial nose is discreet and suggests intense freshness. This is followed by subtle hints of lemongrass and white flowers, such as honeysuckle or lily of the valley. It evokes youth on the verge of adulthood, hinting at the remarkable potential of this extremely elegant wine.

Mouth: The initial taste instantly suggests a certain tenderness. His body affirms extreme delicacy, tenderness and fluidity. Everything is perfectly organized and intensely refined, with a light and airy style. It has a very long finish. The balance achieved in this cuvée is so remarkable that it evokes notions of purity.
