Description
Winemaking
Grapes: Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier.
Alfred Gratien Brut Nature is made through rigorous grape selection, vinification, aging in small 228-liter oak barrels according to tradition, and voluntary limitation of volumes. Another originality lies in the choice to avoid malolactic fermentation while respecting the nature of the grape and the personality of the terroir. These quality guarantees are all the touches that create a unique Alfred Gratien Champagne. The time the wine is left in the cellar is a decisive factor. Classic Brut Cuvées, like this one, stay for 4 years, vintage ones for at least 10, and Cuvée Paradis spends 6 to 7 years in the cellar.
Tasting notes
View: Golden yellow color with a seductive shine. Its numerous bubbles are fine, with a calm and regular tempo.
Nose: At first its sense of smell is intense and frank. Candied aromas immediately appear, with notes of dried fruits and nuts and caramelized butter. Notes of jasmine and nuts (especially hazelnuts) are revealed during aeration. It is a wine that develops very quickly in the flute.
Mouth: The initial flavor is lively and the bubbles effervescent with enthusiasm. Since there is no sweetness, you can fully appreciate the slim, bright body of the wine. The minerality has a chalky, acidic appearance, and the texture of the wine is opulent. The finish perfectly completes the notes explored in the mouth. With a sharp, opulent edge, it is acidic and clean.
Recommended temperature: 8ºC.
Food pairing
Best enjoyed when combined with foods with a solid texture such as lobster, cured ham, small game birds, aged gouda or mimolette cheese
