Description
PREPARATION
Grapes: 95% Tempranillo, 2% Mazuelo and 3% Graciano.
For the production of Gran Reserva 890 2010 red wine the selected clusters were harvested manually in boxes that were transferred to the winery in refrigerated transport. After gentle destemming and crushing, fermentation was carried out at a controlled temperature in a slow manner and once finished, the batches that were considered best were transferred to barrels to be aged for 6 years, undergoing 10 rackings in the traditional way. During these rackings, a new selection was made to move on to the final blend of only 199 barrels. To guarantee and preserve the organoleptic properties of this wine to the maximum, it is not subjected to any filtering process. Bodegas La Rioja Alta began its history in 1890, when five Rioja and Basque families founded the La Rioja Alta Wine Society in the Estación neighborhood of Haro. The Frenchman Monsieur Vigier was the first winemaker of the house and the Reserva 1890 (predecessor of the current Gran Reserva 890) was the first wine made by the Winery.
