Description

Winemaking

Grapes: Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier.

Alfred Gratien Brut Rosé is a refined blend in which the elegance of Chardonnay and the fruity notes of Pinot Meunier are delicately mixed. The rosé is obtained by adding Pinot Noir and without bleeding. It is produced with the spirit of rigor that characterizes the Alfred Gratien house. Only the first pressing is used to make their cavas. Vinification has been carried out entirely and exclusively in 228-liter oak barrels since 1864 without malolactic fermentation. Each Cru, each vintage and each origin of wine is vinified separately. The contact between the wine and the barrel favors microoxygenation, which nourishes the wine and gives it body and a certain roundness. This is the secret behind Alfred Gratien's distinctive style. The time the wine is left in the cellar is a decisive factor. Classic Brut Cuvées like this one stay for 4 years, vintages for at least 10, and Cuvée Paradis spends 6 to 7 years in the cellar.

Tasting notes

View: Its color is reminiscent of rose petals. The healthy effervescence turns into an attractive foam.

Nose: The initial aroma is fruity (strawberries and currants) and floral (peonies). Notes of wheat, cookies and fresh cream are detected, as well as touches of more toasted flavors.

Mouth: The initial flavor is clean and then opens to a pleasant structured quality. With true harmony, reinforced by fine acidity, light notes of tannins and discreet sweetness. Because it shines brightly, the texture goes from "soft" to "firm" and back again. The finish is long at 6 to 8 seconds and the finish is slightly smoky with mineral notes.

Recommended temperature: 8-10ºC.

Food pairing

With a texture that oscillates between sweetness and firmness, it complements all sausages except the fattest and most cured. Select, for example, cured ham, seasoned ham, brawn or andouille and andouillette sausages.
