Description
PREPARATION
Grapes: Chardonnay.
Alfred Gratien Blanc de Blancs 2006 is obtained thanks to rigorous selection, vinification and maturation of the grapes in small 228-liter oak barrels, respecting the nature of the grapes and the personality of the terroir. The other unique characteristic of Alfred Gratien is his decision to avoid malolactic fermentation to preserve all the freshness and character of the grape. This care and attention, a seal of quality, is what makes Alfred Gratien a unique Champagne. The time the wine is left in the cellar is a decisive factor. Classic Brut Cuvées, like this one, stay for 4 years, vintage ones for at least 10, and Cuvée Paradis spends 6 to 7 years in the cellar.
TASTING
View: Golden yellow color with reflections of intense green that highlights the vitality of the wine. Abundant vivid shine. Beautifully radiant with an uninterrupted stream of bubbles on the surface.
Nose: Initially precise on the nose. Lemongrass and almond set the tone on a base of iodine and seaweed aromas. When swirled, it takes on more notes of sponge cake and yellow flowers, but also retains its freshness with a hint of verbena. A generous nose that will open even more with the passage of time.
Mouth: Fresh and chiseled in the attack then combining uniform texture, smooth dosage and tasty freshness on the palate. The wine as a whole is silky and full. The shine ties everything together with a fluid feel. The richness of the vintage is then tempered by the beautiful vibrancy and delicate tannins of the wine. The overall texture is dense but firm. A very tasty and long finish. In the mouth it is elegant and fresh, supported by a chalky minerality.
Recommended temperature: 12ºC.
