PREPARATION
If there is a popular series within Nikka's whiskeys, it is the Black series. With this new version Black Rich Blended, Nikka masterfully blends single malt whiskeys from the Miyagikyo distillery, both low and non-alcohol, with a high-proof grain whiskey from the Yoichi distillery, with key components matured in ex-Sherry barrels. The complexity of the malts, sweet and full-bodied, is balanced by the lightness provided by Coffey grain whiskey. This is a completely different profile than the standard "Black Nikka", softer and more elegant.
"Black Nikka" was launched in 1965 as Nikka's premium blended whiskey. It was incredibly popular over the following decades, but in response to changing consumer habits, Nikka introduced a new, lighter version in 1997, the "Black Nikka Clear Blend." It was a cleaner blend, with a base of unripe malt, light and elegant, perfect for those new to the world of whiskey or for fans of Highballs. Now, with its new "Rich Blend," Nikka is trying to appeal to those who have been drinking their highball-style whiskeys for a while and are ready for a richer whiskey.
TASTING

Amber color.
Nose:
Intense and powerful aroma with notes of orange, banana and raspberries.
Mouth:
Bitter palate, with hints of strawberry smoothie, red pepper and pink bubble gum. In the finish, the bubblegum note remains, and is joined by some notes of coffee and wood.
