Enrique Mendoza Las Quebradas 2018 75cl.

Enrique Mendoza Las Quebradas 2018 75cl.

Enrique Mendoza Las Quebradas 2018 is an excellent single-varietal red, made with grapes grown in a soil called caliche, with lower permeability and, therefore, greater retention of water and nutrients, and less aeration. In this way, according to Pepe Mendoza, the characteristics of the wine are a more marked structure, with muscular tannins and aromas of ripe fruit and minerals. It is a small tribute from Bodegas Mendoza to the province of Alicante, with this wine you can enjoy its sun, its land and its people, it is also ideal to accompany rice with meat, roasted red meats, steak tartare and white meats with sauce.

Description

PREPARATION

Grapes: 100% Monastrell.

The grape used to make the Enrique Mendoza Las Quebradas 2018 red wine comes from a single plot located in the “Las Quebradas” area in Villena, located 500 meters above sea level and with “edafological” (earth) characteristics that make it unique. The vineyard lives on bedrock and the soils are stony “caliche stone” and poor in organic matter. It is a traditional vineyard with 1,500 plants per hectare formed in a glass and without any irrigation support, the fertilizer is organic sheep compost fermented by the Winery and worked with the zero waste concept, this means that it has never received herbicides or systemic and of course no insecticide, it only works with powdered sulfur, copper, biological control such as the "bacillus turugensis" for the moth and a lot of awareness. The harvest of this harvest took place the fourth week of September. This wine was aged for 16 months in French oak barrels.

TASTING

View: Cherry red color with garnet flashes and a medium high layer.

Nose: In the olfactory phase, memories of Mediterranean herbs flood us: rosemary, lavender, thyme, esparto grass, small pine and many balsamic acids that provide freshness. It also highlights its great minerality and depth, the passage through barrel gives this wine smoky and tobacco notes.

Mouth: Big and powerful but still elegant. The caliche soils infuse it with great sweet and fatty tannins.

Recommended temperature: 16ºC.
