Bodegas Mauro was founded in 1978, two years before the D.O. was established. Ribera del Duero. Mauro does not belong to the Denomination of Origin for reasons of geographical limitation at the time of its constitution, when the historical arguments of the vineyards of Tudela de Duero were not considered sufficient. The winery produces three wines with a total production of 270,000 bottles: Mauro, the flagship of the house, Mauro VS selection of the best vineyards and Terreus, an estate wine, of which only 6,000 bottles are produced annually. Bodegas Mauro follows organic production criteria in order to contribute and maintain soil fertility and guarantee more environmentally sustainable viticulture. Terreus is a very versatile wine that pairs exceptionally well as an accompaniment to starters of boards of cured cheeses, sausages and Iberian ham. Description

PREPARATION

Grapes: 100%Tempranillo

Terreus wine is made with grapes collected from a single selected plot (Finca El Almendro) of three hectares, in the Valladolid town of Tudela del Duero. The soils are clay-sandy, loose and deep. The cycle began with mild temperatures. January will be remembered for the storm Filomena that left heavy snowfall in its wake. The spring was warm and dry and in the summer, it did not rain until the end of August. The harvest began on September 13. The harvest is carried out manually and using small 15 kg boxes for transport to the winery. Once the harvest is received in the winery, a selection is made on the table of the best clusters and berries, which are destemmed for subsequent pressing. The resulting must is transferred by gravity to stainless steel tanks where it ferments with its native yeasts for 3 weeks. Finally, the wine obtained is transferred to French oak barrels where it rests during its 20 months of aging, until the moment of bottling.

TASTING

View:

It has a cherry red color, with violet edges and a medium-high layer.  

Nose:

It stands out for its great expressiveness on the nose. Notes of ripe red and black fruit predominate, characteristic of Tempranillo, combined with mineral and balsamic hints in the background, as well as toast and spices from its long stay in the barrel.  

Mouth:

It has a silky step and a good structure. In its flavor, the notes of ripe red fruit (cherries, blackberries, currants...) that we already perceive in the olfactory phase predominate, combined with nuances of sweet spices (vanilla, cinnamon) that accompany us in the mouth long after taking it.   Service temperature: 16ºC.
