Description
PREPARATION
José Cuervo Especial Reposado is made from the juice of the piñas, the heart of the agave, which, once extracted, are cooked for 12 hours. After letting them rest, the pineapples are taken to a mill, where the fiber is separated and the juices and honey are extracted, and sugars and vanilla are added for fermentation. This becomes a mixed tequila. It is then distilled twice to extract its impurities as much as possible. After fermentation, aging takes place in oak barrels for 6 months. This allows it to acquire the color and other characteristics of the wood.
The story of José Cuervo begins in 1758, the year the King of Spain granted José Maria Guadalupe de Cuervo a plot of land in Jalisco, in order to cultivate and harvest the blue agave plant. This unique event marked the birth of tequila. The company remains family owned after more than 250 years, and is currently run by the 10th generation of the Cuervo family.
TASTING
View: Light gold.
Nose: Sweet, with pleasant notes of agave and light oak aroma.
Mouth: Woody, slightly sweet flavor, with notes of agave, oak and vanilla. Smooth and balanced finish.
