Olivier Leflaive Chassagne Montrachet 1er Cru Blanchots 2022 75cl.
The Olivier Leflaive Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru "Blanchots Dessus" 2022 is one of the most exceptional and rare Premier Cru wines of the maison. Coming from the estate Blanchot Dessus—located directly next to and on the same slope as the legendary Grand Cru Criot-Bâtard-Montrachet—this wine is often dubbed by critics as the "almost Grand Cru" from Chassagne for its dazzling concentration, aromatic finesse and extraordinary longevity.
The plot is located in the upper part of the slope, directly bordering Criot-Bâtard-Montrachet and Bâtard-Montrachet. This strategic position gives it the volume and richness typical of a Grand Cru, but with a mineral precision marked by its white calcareous soil (blanchot refers to the whiteness of its limestone stones). A monumental vintage in Burgundy where the Chardonnay achieved impeccable phenolic maturity while maintaining vibrant acidity. It offers pure fruit, enveloping richness and a masterful balance.

Winemaking
Grapes: 100% Chardonnay
Manual harvesting of whole 100% Chardonnay clusters in small boxes to protect the fruit. Rigorous selection on the table before pressing.
Aging for 12 months in French oak barrels (25-30% new). Controlled fine lees stirring (bâtonnage) is applied to develop complexity and density without overshadowing the minerality.
Tasting notes
View:
Pale golden yellow with greenish and golden flashes of great brilliance and luminosity. Dense, glyceric tears.
Nose:
Complex, profound and of enormous nobility. Aromas of vine peach, white pear, acacia flower and lemon peel stand out, wrapped by sophisticated notes of toasted almond, fresh butter, brioche dough and a constant limestone and saline background.
Mouth:
Majestic, spacious and enveloping entrance. On the palate it combines an aristocratic and buttery density with a thread of vibrant acidity that gives it extraordinary vertical tension. Long-lasting, deep and markedly mineral aftertaste (flint and chalk) with a citrus nuance of great persistence.
Food pairing
The Olivier Leflaive Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru "Blanchots Dessus" 2022 is a wine with a noble profile and "almost Grand Cru". Its extraordinary concentration, aristocratic texture and mineral tension demand dishes of the highest gastronomy where richness, earthy complexity or the texture of highly dense seafood prevail.
