Description
PREPARATION
The basic components with which Disaronno is made: natural almonds, Madagascar vanilla and pure caramelized sugar, together with the added aromas and alcoholic complexity make Disaronno a characteristic and distinctive liqueur compared to the rest of the liqueurs. Its warm and refined flavor dates back to the Renaissance, in 1525, the artist Bernardino Luini, a brilliant disciple of Leonardo da Vinci, was commissioned to paint a fresco of the Virgin of Miracles in Saronno, where the work is still on display. To portray the Virgin, he chose a beautiful local innkeeper as his model. As a token of gratitude, the innkeeper prepared a special gift for the artist: a bottle full of an amber, aromatic and delicate liquor. Thus was born the legend of Disaronno, from a simple gesture of courtesy and a drink made by hand with secret ingredients. Years later, in 1600, Giovanni Reina found the innkeeper's old recipe and jealously preserved it, passing it on from generation to generation. In the early years of the 20th century, Domenico Reina began to produce and market Disaronno Originale in Milan.
