Description
PREPARATION
Jura whiskey is made with barley, yeast and pure water, coming from the top of the highest mountain range on the island, the Paps del Jura. Water, or sometimes snow, seeps down the mountain range and into Market Loch below, 1,000 feet above sea level. This water reaches the distillery through streams and waterfalls to help shape the exclusive Single Malt. The distillation is carried out in some of the highest stills of all the distilleries on the islands, in order to obtain the purest alcohol possible. Thanks to the forestry commission, the sawmill and the cooperage of France, Isle of Jura Seven Wood has been shaped by seven different oak woods. The layers of complexity and flavor emerge from a maturation journey that begins in ex-bourbon American white oak barrels before a portion of the whiskey is divided between six different virgin oak barrels sourced from various regions of France: Limousin, Tronçais, Allier, Vosges, Jupilles and Les Bertranges.
