Bruichladdich Octomore Edition 13.3 70cl. - Case
Bruichladdich Octomore Edition 13.3 demonstrates the phenomenal strength of flavor when combining super-heavy peat with the variable crops harvested on the island of Islay, raised by farmer James Brown on a single farm. European oak gives a more subtle structure to the whiskey, while American oak allows the spirit to take center stage. An Islay whiskey through and through, the provenance of this Octomore expression is unrivaled. The complex flavor of the earth that raised the barley and the classic peat smoke define the character of this whiskey, speaking of the place where it comes from. Presentation: Bottle with case.

Description
PREPARATION
Bruichladdich Octomore Edition 13.3 is distilled from barley grown on Islay, on a single farm, and demonstrates the phenomenal strength of flavor when super-heavy peat is combined with variable crops harvested on the island of Islay. Matured in first-fill ex-American whiskey barrels and a complementary selection of second-fill European oak barrels, sourced from the Rivesaltes region in France and the Ribera del Duero region in Spain.
TASTING
View:
Light amber color.
Nose:
The aromas of malt sugar and the soft smoke of peat draw you into the drink. Layers of fresh green fruit follow, followed by rose, geranium, apricot and eucalyptus. Marzipan, ginger nut cookies and honey melon can also make an appearance, and the fruity malt character comes to the fore with a little time. Adding a drop of water will highlight the peat smoke beautifully.
Mouth:
A soft and delicate palate, sweet honey and brown sugar give way to a whisper of peat smoke. The second sip brings lemon peel and seashells, a delicate touch of the sea along with notes of malted cookie and marzipan and coconut. The peat smoke has hints of boot polish and ash, but is smooth enough to allow the subtle malty floral notes to shine through. The marine character develops and the smoke increases on the palate, honey and lemon with warm sand and marzipan. Final fruity traces of peach and stewed pears add a bit of sweetness to the finish.
