Description
PREPARATION
The Balvenie Caribbean Cask 14 matures in traditional oak whiskey casks for 14 years, and then 'finishes' in casks that previously contained Caribbean rum. To create the ideal finish, maltmaster David C. Stewart MBE filled American oak casks with his own blend of select West Indies rums. When he judged that the barrels were ready, the rum was replaced with the 14-year-old spirit and he began to work on the wood, adding the finishing touches. At The Balvenie they remain faithful to artisanal production, making whiskey as they always have. Their artisans have a deep knowledge of their materials and a desire to make the best whiskey possible. Their process is a combination of experience, skill and ambition that gives The Balvenie its unique character.
TASTING
View: Amber tone with orange nuances.
Nose: Aroma of rich toffee, sweet and creamy that is combined with notes of fresh fruit.
Mouth: Flavor rounded with vanilla and sweet oak notes, with a fruity character that develops over time. Smooth and persistent finish.
