Description
PREPARATION
Grapes: 100% Tempranillo.
The grapes used to make Balbás Barrica red wine come from the upper part of the Rosedal and La Dehesa, Carremolinos, Zumbrín, Carranguix, La Calva and Los Valdillanes estates. The vineyard is between 20 and 35 years old and grows on poor sand and clay soils, we even find gravelly soil. It is harvested by hand. Once in the tank, fermentation is carried out naturally, with native yeast to preserve the character of the Ribera del Duero. It is aged for 5 months in new American oak barrels. The history of Bodegas Balbás goes back more than two hundred years in the Burgos town of La Horra. In 1777, Abundio Balbás began to make red wines from his own grapes for local consumption since, at that time, in the towns each villager had a role. After Abundio, more Balbás arrived who always lived parallel to the world of wine. Thus six generations until reaching the 21st century with his great-great-grandson, Juan José Balbás, today general director and one of the great references in the Ribera del Duero Designation of Origin
