Angostura Cocoa is made from the best cocoa in the world, Trinitario cocoa from Trinidad and Tobago, balancing it with the mixture of macerated herbs and spices from the original Angostura Bitters mix. This, along with 200 years of unparalleled bitters experience, has resulted in this truly decadent and indulgent new flavor. Trinidad and Tobago is one of the few countries designated as producers of 100% fine or flavored cocoa. A status it has maintained for decades. Angostura is one of the leading rum producers in the Caribbean, as well as holding the Royal Warrant of Her Royal Highness Queen Elizabeth II. Its history dates back to 1824, when Dr. Siegert perfected his formula of aromatic bitters to use in his medical practice as Surgeon General of the armies of Simón Bolívar and chose for his brand the name of the city where he lived in Venezuela, Angostura, this town is now called Ciudad Bolívar.
