Absolut Kurant is a vodka flavored with blackcurrant, a sweet berry that ripens in July and is commonly grown in the gardens of Swedish country houses. When it was launched in 1992, it was intended as a tribute to Absolut's Swedish origins. It was originally considered for the name Absolut Vinbar, as the Swedish word for blackcurrant is 'vinbar'. However, this name was rejected because it sounded like "Wine Bar" in English.

Description
PREPARATION
Absolut Kurant vodka is made with water from a deep well located in the city of Åhus which, due to its depth, is protected from impurities; distilled from winter wheat and natural aroma. Winter wheat is distinguished from other crops in that it is planted in the fall and harvested the following fall, meanwhile it grows under the Swedish snow, which develops a hard grain. To ensure a superior quality product, it is made using a continuous distillation process designed by Lars Olsson Smith. Flavored versions, like this one, are achieved using only 100% natural ingredients and without adding sugar.
TASTING
View: Colorless.
Nose: Fruity aromas, sweet and slightly acidic notes of blackcurrant and wheat.
Mouth: Soft and sweet blackcurrant flavor, with a slight acidic tip.
