PREPARATION
To craft The Balvenie Tun 1509, David C. Stewart carefully hand-selected 21 rare and precious barrels from the distillery's stock of aged whiskeys. They were all transferred to Tun 1509. It is a non-chill filtered whiskey and is aged in three different types of casks, sherry butts, ex-bourbon casks and casks previously used to finish Balvenie Double Wood. At The Balvenie they remain faithful to artisanal production, making whiskey as they always have. Their artisans have a deep knowledge of their materials and a desire to make the best whiskey possible. Their process is a combination of experience, skill and ambition that gives The Balvenie its unique character.
TASTING
View:
Amber color.
Nose:
Rich in soft brown sugar, toffee, flower honey and ginger and oak spices.
Mouth:
Deep with a touch of maple syrup, candied orange and liquid honey. Sweet and malty finish.
