PREPARATION
12 Year Old Abuelo Añejo Rum was born in 2008, the result of the Varela family's passion for creating an exquisite, high-quality rum. This rum is aged in select American white oak barrels, with a final maturation at a reduced level that results in a rum with exceptional character, perfect balance and deep notes of dried fruits. The history of Varela Hermanos S.A. It dates back to 1908 when Don José Varela Blanco, a young Spanish emigrant, founded the San Isidro Sugar Mill in Pesé, the first sugar mill in the newly formed Republic of Panama. The town of Pesé, established in the mid-18th century, is located in a fertile valley in the center of Panama, where the main activity of its population of nearly 10,000 inhabitants is the cultivation of sugar cane.
TASTING
View: Dark brown color.
Nose: Notes of cocoa, prunes, toasted wood and nuts.
Mouth: Intense, round and voluptuous texture. Harmonious and balanced character with notes of vanilla, nuts and tobacco. Chocolate aftertaste.
