Description
PREPARATION
Knowing the excellent properties of aromatic plants, the fields of Ibiza and Formentera, due to their variety of microclimates that are formed by their peculiar orography, provide specific levels of mineralization and humidity. This means that the aromatics grown and those born wild in Ibiza and Formentera have special properties for human consumption. The Marí Mayans Ibicencan Herb Liqueur has been made using an artisanal process since 1880 following the handwritten recipes of Juan Marí Mayans, creator of the liquor and founder of the first distillery. Through distillation, all the properties of the plants are extracted by steam drag in a copper still for periods of 18 hours. Subsequently, with a coil, the vapors acquire their liquid state through cooling and proceed to boiling and infusing the botanicals by immersion in previously boiled water and resting for a certain period of time. Through maceration, the plants are incorporated into hydroalcoholic solutions that vary depending on the type of aroma for periods ranging from 15 days to a month and a half.
