PREPARATION
The Cardhu 12 Year Old Whiskey is made in the traditional Scottish way in small copper stills using the best grain and the purest water. Cardhu, formerly Cardow, is the Speyside home of Johnnie Walker and comes from one of Speyside's oldest distilleries, located high in the hills on the north side of the Spey Valley with beautiful views to the south and close to the River Spey. Known for its smooth and sweet single malt whiskey, the story of Cardhu's rise to fame is largely told in the story of two determined women who were members of the founding family: Helen and Elizabeth Cumming, they were valued for their determination, skill, generosity and loyalty to the community, forever defining Cardhu as a whiskey with heart. This was the first distillery to partner with John Walker & Sons, and for 200 years, the elegant, soft and sensual character of Cardhu has been at the center of celebrations shared around the world.
TASTING
View: Golden honey color.
Nose: Full strength, heady, nose-stinging, pear drops and highly integrated notes of heather, resin and sweet nuts. Tempting. Intriguing. With a little water, still harmonious but less pronounced, revealing a little malt cereal, soft and spicy wood, moor and faint traces of wood smoke.
Mouth: Soft, pleasant and medium bodied. Well balanced and smooth, sweet and fresh, with a pronounced drying effect. Persistent finish, sweet smoke in the attractive and dry aftertaste.
